not too long ago a jiffy bag arrived at parkwest hq. in it was a scratched tdk case with a sa-x tape containing a musical message from years past, simply marked the tape i lost! we sat and listened, able to pinpoint influence and reference but yet hearing something totally new. that this tape surfaced and made it across the years and the miles to us was fortunate. when the synth part came through clear on a later version on the tape, allowing us to remix then it became destiny. emotion, melody and rhythm will always be timeless and these tracks, selected from that tape, are as relevant today as they ever were.

st. petersburg talent ivan latyshev drops a killer ep on the ever-dependable dessous recordings. ivan has been making waves over the past couple of years with his distinctive brand of deep, groove-heavy house music on labels such as what’s in the box, street king and spaghetti monster - but this to my youth ep sees the young russian step up to another level. the title track shows a deep affiliation for classic house vibes, mixed with some jazzy flourishes and swung grooves. the sense of euphoria is tangible, and the spoken word vocals add a level of house mysticism that will be always welcome on deeper leaning dance-floors. cant go away goes a shade deeper still, bringing layers of delay and reverb to the track that help shape a true slow burner. old ages also highlights ivan’s love of jazz rhythms and sounds, building from a live drum break into a rolling deep house monster - its infectious stuff and suggests ivan latyshev is going to be name to watch in the next months and years.

bar musica is a brand new label that promises to inject plenty of charm and originality into the underground house and techno world. the first release kicked up quite a storm from label owner bartolomeo, and the second release features a trio of great originals by j paraguai, with a remix from long time electronic talent bruno pronsato. rumba is up first and is a full fat, corrugated house track with tribal percussion, punchy drums that swing down low and afro vocals. it is a dynamite groove with roughshod tin pot hits that are carefully treated and bring a lovably wild side to the track. thesoundsays founder and berlin based new yorker bruno pronsato has been on the fringes of the underground for more than a decade with inventive eps and lps on labels like hello? repeat and bosconi. his remix is stripped back to a forceful and rubbery techno groove. blistered synths rip up the middle and spooky voices, trippy effects and manic loops all make it a freaky late night or after-hours tune that will send floors wild. ble is then another j paraguai, and this one is again unhinged and urgent, with intense synths exploding above shuffling, tightly knotted minimal drums and sweeping pads. it’s pure wtf music for brave djs and dancers and is a truly original production. then last original atles is rugged and impactful in the way in combines house and techno into new ideas. it is stripped back to little chopped loops that bury deep in your brain and have you in a trance in no time. as such, it rounds out a fine ep and keeps this exciting new label going off in great style.

concept is the new baby established by the already international well known artist agency my favourite freaks, which consists of a four part and monthly released series starting in december 2015. all tracks will be out on vinyl and only for real and freaky club boyz and party girlz. international celebrated artists of the agency collaborated to create such a big collector s item.

quite a few months have passed since adam port released his last original material on keinemusik. it’s been almost too long. but then again, every expert will confirm, you won’t see a “sonnenfinsternis” every other week. port’s new ep is going under the name of that very astronomical curiosity and accordingly, the like-titled cut on a can only be the result of a rare cosmic constellation. it starts with a spoken word field recording. could it be, someone secretly recorded parts of the internal pre-release labelmeeting? we’ll leave that to your imagination. but then, all solid facts. a forceful beat, decorated with hihat-hiss, stoically pounding synthbass, rattling snare-staccato and space-opening synth-layers. finally, some siren’s wailing, just in case someone didn’t get the immediacy of this material. classy floor substance, that is, with the scarcity value of an eclipse. “working for it”, as the first track on the flipside, is rather going for the deeper realms. this coproduction with jennifer touch, a singer/producer that just moved from leipzig to berlin, is built up on a cosy, warm synth-priming, that touch congenially contrasts with her undercooled wavy vocals. an emotional rollercoaster, if you will.

founded three years ago, kalakuta soul records has been delivering quality releases keeping quite a bunch of dancefloors busy all over the world. for its sixth release, the bochum based label has managed to put ist hands on three soulful jams that will shake the hell out of any encrusted hip. for this release, cary crant has put three marvellous tracks together delivering a heavy stomper on th a side while dedicating the b side to all the dancing souls that love to get lost in a huge amount of love leaving the speakers in every single minute of its two tracks.

mixing abstract hip-hop and house, blutch s style is mind-blowing and striking, with touches of groove and heat. borrowing from pépé bradock, francis inferno orchestra,cuthead, andrés, shigeto and massive attack, blutch has forged a unique musical identity all along his career, always with this strong desire to combine several universes into a single entity.
in january 2015 blutch revealed his creative genius with his first ep, equilibrium. he will soon revisit a voluptuous set mixing trip hop, the softness of electronica and a hypnotic deephouse. requilibrium unites 9 artists in one project that represents blutch’ diverse musical spectre. friends, idols, people who we loved to collaborate with, spend time with, get to know better. the r stands for the remix, the reinterpretation of blutch’ ep equilibrium. each artist gives new life to one of the tracks, spicing them up to their liking. cuthead transforms « skyview » in a straight-up house floor killer while maxime dangles takes « chocolates & hamburgers » to gloomy, cold electronic heights. between these two extremes the music gradually and cleverly evolves track by track. melodiesinfonie opens up in complete serenity with his take on « a. » which takes us straight into summer with our feet in the sand. tito wun follows up perfectly with his version of “wildstar” that is stacked with groovy samples. next up is keroué, member of the band fixpensill. he puts his rhymes on a stellar edit by ywnwa. jenovah choses to take “deep diving” on a bass-driven path while pavane sees and raises that with an orchestral version of anyoma. it’s up to the brothers ark & pit spector to close out the ep by taking « elis » into deeper territory.

martin landskys long association with poker flat recordings continues with yet another exquisitely realized three-tracker. long since a staple of the underground electronic music scene in berlin and europe in general, landsky’s deft ear for dynamics and sense of off kilter dance-floor knowledge continues to do the business for djs and dancers alike. after the great success of vol.1 , landsky now presents ‘ekko traxx vol.2&#8242,,,. ‘echo my head’ is the perfect example - driving, focussed and funky, yet with a subtle undercurrent that keeps you slightly out of your comfort zone and locked in to the groove. weird night contains a spooky, discordant synth that raises the tension over and over, before giving way to a hard driving rhythm track that will see the late night heads fully losing themselves classic landsky style. that organ has a similar aesthetic, chunky rhythms and bass pulses for the floor, and synth stabs and melodic hooks that keep the track in constant forward motion.

following last summers acclaim ruede hagelsteins long player apophenia, we once again revisit the album, this time with a few stunning remixes from the drifter, can be love synth, and ruede himself of the hugely popular footprints feat. c.a.r.. up first is the drifter and he turns out what may be his best remix to date with a swelling, emotional ride that will most definitely be an anthem for the coming summer. taking a different approach, yet just as engaging, ruede reworks his original into a dark, looping psychedelic odyssey perfect for late nights or early mornings. can love be synth rounds out the remixes with a gorgeous pop-esque twist on the original choosing to focus on live instrumentation and retro synthesis resulting in a cross-over favorite. and finally, for all the times you want the vibe without the vocal, a dub version of the original gem.

infrastructure regularly works with up-and-coming artists on cover artwork. respected young swiss artist julian charriere provided the iconic greyscale cover for post scriptum s debut lp (inf-020), and london based photographer guy archard s work featured on campbell irvine s reunion of two bodies maxi-ep (inf-018). now the celebrated british fine-artist robert ncnally has been invited to submit original artwork for facticity. selected by jake and dinos chapman to show work at the prestigious flowers gallery in london, and commissioned by damien hurst to provide work for his private collection, robert s incredibly detailed large scale pencil drawings are attracting serious interest in the modern art world. mcnally s cover image was selected from a series of works based on adapted antique post cards. its anti-establishment, censorship-related overtones are clear to see, as is the stark use of contrast - thick layers obscure the fading original, re-appropriating it. setting the tone for this carefully compiled collection of new music, rich in subtexts and sub-genres, a special edition print of the cover artwork will be included in the first 500 copies of facticity.

orbis x is a sublabel of orbis records and will be mainly focusing on softer yet often usable as dj material for the broader mass interested in electronic music. this sublabel is an extension of orbis records softer, more melodical and experimental side. music will be ranging from house, dub, chicago over melodic acid and even breaks. not any track makes it to this sublabel if it can’t stand on its own and stand the test of time!
